How to Play PECH

Every player is a Patang-baaz on a rooftop in the old city. Your kite flies in the sky above, your crew runs across the rooftops below. Highest score after the final round rules the sky.

Each round, everyone plans in secret

  1. Patang move: Chadh (up), Utar (down), Sarak (left or right), Stay, or Hold. Staying lets the wind push you. Hold keeps you steady but you cannot move.
  2. Crew move: run up to 2 rooftops left or right to catch falling kites.
  3. Pech stance: pick how you fight if your string crosses someone else's.
  4. Commit manja: spend 0 to 3 manja for extra cutting power. Only spent if a fight happens.
  5. Bazaar: spend 2 coins for +1 manja or +2 firki.

When everyone locks in or the timer ends, all moves reveal at once.

The string is everything

Your string is a straight line from your rooftop to your kite. Your firki limits how far that line can reach. Fly higher and wider to score more, but a long string crosses more rivals. Crossing strings, or sharing a cell, starts a Pech.

Power = winning stance +3, committed manja, +1 if your kite is higher. At night, a lit lantern gives your opponent +2. Higher power cuts the other string. Equal power means Uljhan: both tangle, drop a band and lose 1 firki.

Kaipo Che and Lapet

Cutting a kite scores 3. The cut kite drifts down with the wind over the next rounds; the dashed LOOT ZONE shows where it is headed. The crew closest to the landing rooftop (within 1) loots it for 2 points and 1 coin. If two crews are equally close, the kite tears apart. A cut player respawns low at home.

Scoring every round

  • Unchaa (high sky): +2 points and +1 coin
  • Beech (middle sky): +1 point
  • Jhanda flag cell: +2 points
  • Kabootar bird path: minus 1 (Karuna, protect the birds)
  • Tukkal lantern at night: +2 points

Tukkal night

The last round of each day is night. You only see rivals near your own kite. Lighting a lantern scores, but makes you easier to cut.

Secret Ichha

Each player gets a hidden wish worth +5 at the end, such as "Cut 2 kites" or "Never get cut". Wishes are revealed on the results screen.

Shortcuts

Click a cell next to your kite to move it, click a rooftop to move your crew. Arrow keys move your kite, Enter locks in.

Quick rules

  • Plan your kite, crew, stance and manja in secret each round.
  • Crossing strings start a Pech. Dheel beats Khench, Khench beats Jhatka, Jhatka beats Dheel.
  • Cut a kite for 3. Loot a falling kite with your crew for 2.
  • The high sky scores best, but it is where everyone hunts.
